I still have yet to purchase any maternity clothing (other than swimsuits) because, let’s be honest, most maternity clothes just aren’t cute. Maternity clothes aren’t easy to find in the first place, and when you do stumble upon a brand that offers maternity options, the items are either super matronly or incredibly overpriced. So up to this point, I’ve just bought regular-sized clothing but a size or two larger to fit my growing bump! At 32 weeks pregnant, I’m officially in my third trimester so let’s just say my bump has definitely ‘popped’!
Even though I’ve bought some new clothes to fit my bump, I decided early on that I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on maternity clothes for just a few months. Rather than buying a whole new maternity wardrobe, I bought several affordable options in regular sizes (just 1 size up) that I could wear throughout pregnancy, and possibly beyond. I figured that was much more cost-effective than buying expensive maternity-only items that might not fit me after the baby is here. So where did I go? The Old Navy outlet which I didn’t even know existed, ha! But the prices on their regular website (and I assume in-store, too) have now dropped to the outlet prices, so now other mamas – and non-mamas, since this is regular-sized clothing, after all – can score the same prices I got for these easy and affordable summer pieces.
I’ve found that the easiest thing to wear in the summer while pregnant is a dress. Just throw it on and it fits over both your bump and the still normal-proportioned parts of your body.
