Outfit Details:
I got this jumpsuit at a boutique in Cali (Melrose in the OC), and they don’t have it available online, nor could I find it anywhere else! But I’ve linked a couple similar jumpsuits below.

If you like to escape the real world and feel like you’re on vacation, crave a good (and I mean good) burger and fries, and enjoy laid-back outdoor eateries, you’ll absolutely love Pool Burger. Located off of Lake Austin Boulevard behind Deep Eddy Cabaret, Pool Burger is a hidden gem with a relaxed tropical vibe and natural, hormone and antibiotic-free burgers.

Pool Burger is just steps away from Deep Eddy Pool (hence the name Pool Burger), a public swimming pool on the outskirts of downtown Austin. Pool Burger is different than most restaurants – and most food trucks for that matter – as it’s a combination of the two. Their ‘restaurant’ is almost entirely outdoors, their burgers are cooked in an airstream, and their drinks are served from a tiki hut bar. While the majority of seating is outdoors, they have a large shaded patio with high top tables and misters to keep you cool in the summer heat. There are a few indoor seating options, but no air conditioning and it still feels like you’re outside. In the back behind the airstream and bar, there is a variety of seating options ranging from picnic tables to cushioned chairs and couches.

Pool Burger serves up some dang good burgers. My all-time favorite is the Blue Hawaiian – 1/4 lb patty, grilled pineapple, bacon, crumbled blue cheese & thousand island dressing. Put pineapple and bacon on anything and I’ll eat it (and love it). But this burger is the real deal.

Dom prefers more of a “classic” burger so he goes for the Pool Cheeseburger – 1/4 pound patty, American cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomato, chopped onion, mayo & mustard. The menu has 8 burgers to choose from, one salad, a few add-on sides and soft serve ice cream. They also have a variety of tropical cocktails to go with their tiki-hut theme. We had the Frozen Hurricanes (El Dorado 3, J. Wray, Plantation OFTD, Passion Fruit, Lemon, Angostura) which are $5 during happy hour, as opposed to $9 regularly. They were refreshing but pretty strong with plenty of rum. Neither of us particularly loved them but they were a good deal.

We’ve gone to Pool Burger at least 5 times, and probably would go more if it were a bit cheaper – burgers range from $8.50 – $18 without any sides. But I’ve never been disappointed with my meal. Their crinkle fries are crispy and have the perfect amount of salt (which is hard to come by these days) and they have happy hour on weekdays with a few drink specials. Since it’s in our neck of the woods, it’s the perfect place to go if we want a quick bite to eat and a beer.

I would definitely recommend trying Pool Burger if you’re in the neighborhood or if you want a good burger in the Austin area. It’s a fun place to come with a group or even by yourself. Everyone is super friendly and a quick stop for a cocktail and burger can quickly turn into a few hours because the atmosphere is so relaxing.

Pool Burger Happy Hour runs from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on weekdays only (M-F). Happy Hour features $5 Frozen Hurricanes, $5 Rosés and $2 Red Stripes.
